The Thrive|ryders

Participation has become critical in sustaining online Communities of Practice (COPs). Evidence from other fields shows that facilitators can help communities to thrive. Through effective facilitation, members can become active participants in their communities. We argue that members' social identity is a key for members to become more attached and more active. Further, as members are involved in communication and information exchanges, technology becomes an important aspect of COPs. Therefore, perceived ease of use of communication as well as information functionality become important drivers for participation.
